Last catch of the day

Last catch of the day

  • Where was the image taken?
    Lake Kerkini, Greece.
  • Story of the image

I was lying under my vehicle photographing a variety of birds, as the sun was beginning to set on the shores of Lake Kerkini in Greece. This Egret drew my attention as it gradually moved closer towards me, hunting for its final feed for the day. With the soft light falling on the grasses in the foreground, and the rich blue of the lake behind, the Egret and its prey were beautifully illuminated by the final rays of the day.

I live in the UK, but I am an avid explorer and get out in my campervan along roads less travelled, aiming to photograph the wildlife I encounter amidst some of Nature's most environmentally significant and diverse places. From photographing Puffins on a remote, snowy island hundreds of miles above the arctic circle, to photographing Dalmatian Pelicans in one of Europe's premier wetlands, I aim to capture unique and captivating images that inform and inspire.
